| SUMMARY: The Packer p repares finished products for shipment or storage by placing them in shipping containers, the specific operations performed being dependent upon the type, size, and number of units to be packed, the type of container employed, and method of shipment. Work requires the placing of items in shipping containers and may involve one or more of the following: knowledge of various items of stock to verify content, selection of appropriate type and size of container, inserting enclosures in container; using excelsior or other material to prevent breakage or damage, closing and sealing container, and applying labels or entering identifying data on container. Exclude packers who also make wooden boxes or crates. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Working knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines
- Ability to operate a computer terminal, bar code and document scanners.
- Understand the needs of the organization serviced.
- Analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect the necessary data to establish the facts, and take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable security investigation to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Ability to obtain Pack-1A certification within 30 days of award.
- AMMO 45, 63, 64 (parts 1 & 2), required to perform AA & E blocking and bracing.
- Ability to obtain a secret security clearance to handle classified materials.
- Must have IATA, IMDG, MILAIR, and 49CFR packaging certification to pack HAZMAT
- Performs other duties as assigned.

| SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: LANGUAGE SKILLS: The employee must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to read, comprehend, and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails, and other correspondence from internal and external sources. The role requires effective communication and presentation skills to convey information to customers, clients, internal staff, and other employees. The employee must be able to interpret instructions and information, clearly explain them to others in English while performing job duties, and demonstrate strong attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills in all tasks. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee is required to walk, stand, sit, and move about the property for extended periods. The role involves physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs, and whole body, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. The employee must be able to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather. The employee must be able to handle equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds individually and occasionally items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance. The position requires sufficient visual acuity to review written documentation and the ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required whenever exposed to hazardous conditions. WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS: This position is not eligible for remote work, as the essential functions of the role require the employee to perform duties on-site. May be exposed to inclement/extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may vary from moderate to high, depending on location. Must be able to work in fast paced, multi-task environment. If applicable work 10(+) hours per day Will require having flexed hours to accommodate for mission requirements to include weekends and Holidays. Overtime may be required. EXPECTATIONS: Transportation & Access: You must have reliable transportation to and from work and be able to access military installations. Background & Drug Screening: Employment requires passing a background check and pre-employment drug screening. Random drug and alcohol testing may also occur without prior notice. Timesheets: Record your actual work hours daily and ensure your entries are accurate and timely to support smooth operations. Dress & Punctuality: Arrive on time and dress appropriately for your shift. BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS: All employees are required to undergo an initial background investigation as a condition of employment.
