Leidos Defense is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join our team in Huntsville, AL. The Platform and Commercial Solutions Division is responsible for executing a wide range of development and manufacturing programs for defense and commercial space customers. The Senior Program Manager will be responsible for meeting the mission commitments to the customer and the financial commitments to Portfolio Manager. Key responsibilities include leading the program team, management of the integrated master schedule, identifying and mitigating risk and opportunities, ensuring timely completion of program deliverables, and delivering excellent program performance overall. Success requires a PM who leads with credibility, accountability, and empathy.

The PM will provide a steady hand, a clear voice, technical expertise, and an uncompromising commitment to mission. Some travel will be required for supplier and customer meetings and test events.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as a customer / client advocate with client management of expectations and results.
Provide technical oversight of our development programs.
Lead project teams throughout the product delivery life cycle of the program.
Provide strategic thought leadership regarding technical management, product delivery, system solutioning, and client management for multiple development projects.
Assist senior leaders to define strategies and success for all aspects of contract management, financial performance, and budget control of existing programs.
Basic Qualifications
BA/BS in engineering and 15+ years of experience in the defense/aerospace industry or 13+ with MS degree in engineering
10+ years of experience managing technical programs that involve hardware development and production in the defense industry
Must be a proven leader with good organizational skills, attention to detail and work well as a leading member of a team
Experience measuring scope, schedule, and cost performance for programs over $50M annual revenue.
Strong understanding of program planning and implementation of Earned Value techniques and tools including Resource Loaded Schedules.
Experience successfully leading cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment to meet quality, schedule and cost commitments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent customer interaction and presentation skills
Must be a US citizenship
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area
Preferred Qualifications
Preference shown to candidates who possess a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI)
Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge of:
AS9100 quality systems and compliance
Navigating DoD acquisition processes and methods
Risk identification, analysis, and management techniques
Understanding of systems engineering principles, design and manufacturing processes, and quality systems
Subcontract management includes creating SOW, and managing technical, schedule and budget for both large and small subcontractors.
Proposal management includes identifying key partners, developing statements of work for subcontracts, planning and writing proposal response
