Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s Simulation Program is seeking to hire a Standardized Patient Lab Assistant. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Reports to the Simulation Director and supports the day-to-day operations of the Standardized Patient Lab.
  • Prepares the Standardized Patient Lab and/or rooms for upcoming events to include but not limited to setting up the Standardized Patient Lab, facilitating high stake events, and gathering/organizing supplies.
  • Communicates with faculty and staff to ensure proper set up of lab events.
  • Works with the Coordinator, Standardized Patient Lab or Program Director to ensure event information is complete and expectations for setup and implementation are achieved.
  • Sets up exam room, equipment, and supplies for lab events.
  • Assists with events by ensuring the cameras in the exam rooms are working properly before and during the event.
  • Notifies faculty or staff of any issues that may occur in the lab.
  • Checks in standardized patients to ensure all have arrived for the event, gives verbal instructions to standardized patients and timing of events as scheduled.
  • Operates audiovisual systems (Learning Space) and computers.
  • Breaks down, restocks and correctly places equipment after events have concluded.
  • Disinfects lab equipment and supplies after use.
  • Utilizes Windows, Google Chrome, and MS Software applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as Internet and database applications.
  • Assists with linen laundering via in house washer and dryer.
  • Organizes rooms and supply cabinets, and maintains inventory.
  • Reports equipment repair needs to the coordinator.
  • Facilitates tours for recruiting faculty and prospective students.
  • Maintains Standard Patient cases, rotations, and event paperwork.
  • Helps facilitate Standardized Patient events in skills labs as needed.
  • Performs safe disposal of sharps supplies.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
  • Related duties as required.
