The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising maintenance activities to ensure equipment and plant assets are functional and optimized, while limiting operational delays and associated costs. Ensures safe work practices during general maintenance of equipment, including but not limited to installation and repairs. Ensures preventative maintenance of plant assets including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, automation, HVAC, plumbing systems, structures, buildings, production machinery, boilers and ammonia refrigeration are routinely taking place and evaluated.
Responsibilities
Ensure plant equipment is maintained for optimal operation to minimize downtime and costs.
Respond urgently to production equipment issues; assign repair work promptly.
Develop, maintain, and manage critical spare parts and inventory.
Ensure timely completion of work orders, repairs, preventative maintenance, and proper documentation.
Approve parts orders within budget and purchasing limits.
Assess maintenance effectiveness; collaborate with production to improve operations and planning.
Coordinate equipment and building maintenance with other departments.
Provide after-hours maintenance support; personally respond to critical or complex situations.
Maintain safe, organized, and secure maintenance work areas and storage.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives while achieving efficiency and budget goals.
Provide guidance, technical support, and training to ensure safety and compliance with food safety programs.
Ensure compliance with quality and food safety programs, adhering to GMPs.
Manage supervisory responsibilities: hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, evaluations, coaching, discipline, and employee development.
Ensure associates have proper tools, equipment, and parts to perform their duties.
Foster teamwork through coaching, leading, listening, and support.
Conduct counseling sessions and disciplinary actions as necessary.
Assist and follow up with outside contractors performing on-site work.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through on the job training or experience
- 5+ years supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing or consumer goods industry
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with employees at all levels of the organization
- Must possess a strong leadership skill
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Solid decision-making skills and a strong sense of urgency
- Solid technical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work, climb stairs and ladders, and reach with hands and arms.
- Position occasionally requires climbing to high elevations.
- Employee is required to stand; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and at times up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Benefits and Compensation Package
- Salary Range: $110,000 – $115,000 (+DOE) + 15% Annual bonus
