The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with technical issues related to ion transport in surface ion traps. In this role, you will lead and coordinate ion transport efforts on several fronts including numerical simulation and modeling of ion transport, related ion trap fabrication efforts, related electronic control development projects, and in-lab experimental characterization and validation of ion transport concepts.
$160,000 - $200,000 a year

We are seeking a highly qualified Ion Transport Speed Project Lead in our Broomfield, CO location to apply their expertise to cutting-edge R&D efforts in the field of quantum computing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with technical issues related to ion transport in surface ion traps. In this role, you will lead and coordinate ion transport efforts on several fronts including numerical simulation and modeling of ion transport, related ion trap fabrication efforts, related electronic control development projects, and in-lab experimental characterization and validation of ion transport concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical coordination and guidance of multi-pronged efforts related to ion transport speed spanning numerical modeling, in-lab validation, ion trap fabrication, and control electronics.
- Review scientific results from development efforts to implement improved processes and identify areas for further investigation.
- Serve as the technical interface between project-focused technical groups and report plans and progress to management.
- Perform trade studies and analysis.
- Present scientific results at conferences or in publications.
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets to deliver as part of a broader company strategy.
YOU MUST HAVE:
- PhD completed prior to starting.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience (PhD inclusive) involving one or more of the following areas: ion transport, quantum computing, experimental control system development, quantum information, atomic physics, electronics design, ion trap design, or ion trap fabrication.
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
- 10 years' experience in scientific research and development, engineering, or leadership roles.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Experience with trapping of ions or neutral atoms.
- Experience with ion transport in surface traps.
- Experience performing simulation and modeling to inform design and experiments.
- Experience with cryogenic systems.
- Experience with ultra-high vacuum systems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published results within their field of research.
$160,000 - $200,000 a year
