Position Overview

The Clinician in our Foster Care/Adoption program plays a vital role in helping children and families achieve permanency, stability, and healing. You will work directly with therapeutic foster and adoptive parents, collaborate closely with the Department of Children and Families, and support clients navigating the search and reunion process.

This role provides direct clinical services in homes, schools, offices, and community settings. Unlicensed clinicians are welcome—supervision and training are provided, and licensure is expected when eligible.

What You’ll Do

Permanency & Foster Care Support

  • Complete home studies, re?approvals, and PPSP contracts in a timely and thorough manner.

  • Collaborate with DCF and internal permanency teams to support foster and adoptive families.

  • Assist clients seeking non?identifying information or initiating full SEARCH processes for birth family connections.

Clinical Services

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and engagement sessions.

  • Determine DSM?V diagnoses in consultation with supervisory and medical staff.

  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans.

  • Provide case management, discharge planning, and linkage to community resources.

  • Maintain required documentation in compliance with agency, HIPAA, and funding standards.

  • Meet productivity expectations and participate in peer consultation and quality assurance reviews.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Work closely with clinical and administrative teams to address client needs and service gaps.

  • Build skills in evidence?based treatment models supported by the agency.

  • Partner with supervisors to set and achieve professional development goals.

  • Contribute to agency committees, task forces, and community partnerships to strengthen The Village’s impact.

    Experience and Skills

    What You Bring

    Education

    • MSW or equivalent required.

    • Minimum 3 years post?graduate clinical experience preferred.

    • LMSW or equivalent required; license?eligible status expected.

    Experience & Skills

    • Strong diagnostic, assessment, and treatment abilities across individual, family, and group modalities.

    • Experience working with culturally diverse urban populations and a wide range of clinical presentations.

    • Knowledge of behavioral health and child welfare systems.

    • Ability to write professional clinical reports and present effectively to groups.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web?based tools.

    • Familiarity with DSM?IV/DSM?V and evidence?based therapeutic models.

    • Strong organizational skills, confidentiality, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

    • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain healthy boundaries with children and families.
