Position Title: Sr Oracle DBA

Location: Des Moines, IA, United States

Description:
The Sr Oracle DBA is responsible for the build, design, maintenance, optimal performance and security of infrastructure systems, tools and processes, while acting as the primary enterprise-wide database contact. This position serves as the primary point of contact for strategic oracle database vendor relationships and ensures vendor accountability and alignment to business objectives. This position will be responsible for understanding and evaluating applicable risk associated with database systems and will provide guidance to leadership.

Location Options: This position may be based at one of the following Berkshire Hathaway Energy locations: Des Moines, IA; Las Vegas, NV; or Richmond, VA.

Responsibilities:
Oversee the work of DBA's, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and productivity. (30%)

Performs database analysis and design reviews. (20%)

Assists in the research and fact-finding to develop or modify database structures. (20%)

Create and implement standard operating procedures and processes for the department and enforce departmental policy compliance. (10%)

Provides technical input to assist in development of project planning. (10%)

Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (10%)

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related technical field or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of additional related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

7-10 years IT operation experience with strong understanding of Oracle database structures, theories, principles, and practices. Expert-level knowledge of Oracle database technologies from architecture to administration including design, development, and optimization, and licensing of databases.

Expert understanding of how to do performance tuning of enterprise level applications.

Effective oral and written communication skills utilizing your ability to work with other database administrators to help them learn and grow in their abilities.

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
