Essential Job Functions:  

The Maryland Judiciary's Administrative Office of the Courts seeks interested applicants for an internship (seasonal temporary position) with the Research and Analysis Department.  This paid internship will provide an excellent opportunity for an individual pursuing applied research work to conduct research in a variety of areas in support of the Judiciary's overall research function. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Opportunities for supporting research related to court operations, case processing performance, and court administration will be available.  This position will assist in the compilation and interpretation of public and management information reports under the supervision of the director of research and analysis and the research manager.  Examples of research assignments include measuring case processing performance, workload analyses, survey research, court performance measures, and other related projects. This position will also provide the opportunity to learn about how research and data analysis support the Judiciary's mission to provide fair, efficient and effective justice for all. 

This paid internship will be approximately 90 days in duration. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Enrolled in or completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social science research, business, economics, public administration, criminal justice, law/legal studies, or a related field. 

Experience:

Quantitative research background preferred.  Demonstrated knowledge and experience in statistical analysis and research methods. Knowledge and skill in use of Microsoft Office applications and statistical software packages or Excel formulas.  Ability to convey complex data in a straight-forward manner using charts, graphs, and narrative explanations.  Ability to assist with and prioritize several projects simultaneously.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.
