We are seeking a highly motivated bioinformatic researcher with strong analytical and statistical skills to join our effort to support the large-scale data-intensive translational research at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in the laboratory of Dr. Jing H. Wang starting immediately. The research focus of the laboratory is to understand the mechanism of immune evasion in B cell lymphomas and head and neck cancers and to develop novel therapeutic strategies to treat cancers. In addition, we are interested in elucidating how DNA recombination processes contribute to genomic instability and tumorigenesis in B cells by utilizing cutting-edge sequencing technology and novel genetically modified mouse models.

The Bioinformatics Scientist will be responsible for the development and implementation of automated & scalable analytical pipelines on high-performance computer clusters and cloud infrastructure, and integrative analysis of multi-omics datasets (e.g., bulk RNA-seq, whole exome sequencing, whole genome sequencing, single-cell RNA and TCR sequencing, proteomics, etc.). Prior experience with analysis of single-cell sequencing data is highly desired. The incumbent will work with Dr. Wang or other lab members to analyze the data generated by them and assist their project design, data interpretation, data presentation, publications, and grant applications.

The incumbent will also be responsible for independent computational and informatics research projects: analyzing existing large datasets, methods development, novel algorithm development and/or in-depth data analysis that facilitates and integrates implementation, visualization, and database management of multi-dimensional biological datasets generated at the Cancer Center or from public available cancer databases such as TCGA. Responsibilities inlucde: cleaning and standardizing aggregated clinical and genomic data, build data analytical pipelines, preparing high-quality data analysis report and/or manuscripts with the goal of publication, complete analysis of gene expression generated by RNA-seq, qPCR, analysis of genomic alterations; HLA genotyping of normal samples, analysis of single-cell data generated by 10Genomics platform, BD Rhapsody, etc., Integration of multiple datasets for the new discoveries using machine learning approaches, perform data analysis and pipeline development in high-performance computing, cloud environment, or virtual environment as applicable
